How fun to finally begin our soapstone projects! Be sure to upload your first photo to your Freshgrade Fine Arts page. (I have created a soapstone page and linked those photos already done today.) Then assess yourself by commenting on what was easy in soapstone today and what was challenging.
POST what you think has been the most interesting or important thing you have learned this week.

Lots of great basketball skills happening again! You have shown so many improvements already! We have been reading a variety of chapters in Wonder from the perspective of different characters. POST your thoughts about your favourite character's point of view so far and why. We took some class time to give 100 word write feedback to our groups. Have a look at your comments. If you choose to revise and edit further, create a new post with the title Week #2 Revised Copy. DO NOT EDIT THE PARAGRAPH ALREADY POSTED! We want to see the changes you are making and your progress over time. For homework, read at least 5 additional student posts and email me when you read one that fully meets our Learning Intention and one that you feel is a strong write. I am very impressed by the focus and participation many of you are displaying. I think you will agree that learning is way more interesting when you are engaged. Those few who need reminding every day...what are you waiting for? Homework:
Bring soapstone materials but for tomorrow you especially need a cloth for cleaning your boards and tables and an old tshirt or apron to wear. Grade 7s - hand in your Math 3.2 corrections due tomorrow. Be sure to have your flyer here for Monday. Read 5 more 100 word writes. Practice your math by checking out this game and put decimals in order or this one adding decimals. What a fun performance today by the Digital Guise...music combined with the digital world...endless possibilities. POST your thoughts about the performance today. What was your favourite song? instrument (Peter, Bob or Nick)? Why? We are also improving our basketball skills. Please remember your gym strip for tomorrow. Homework:

You can also view this youtube video on how to multiply decimals using models. Your homework is to show 0.3 x 0.9 and 0.8 x 0.9 on a grid. You also are to bring a flyer for next math class. (We may not be able to have math tomorrow so stay tuned for more information.) We continued to view some videos to improve our background information on how humans impact the loss of biodiversity. POST a thoughtful response about the two videos you saw today on the decline of Plankton and Methane. Include questions that you still have. Let's see how many answers you can find! **Remember to send me your blogger link after setting up a site. What fun skating today! Skating tomorrow - Be sure to bring your helmet, skates and appropriate clothing. We leave around 8:50 and skate until 10:15 so should be back for recess. Be sure to thank parents. We began our week#2 100 word write. Be sure to email me your address for the blogspot.ca blog so I can upload it to our blogger page. We began our brainstorming after talking and sharing our ideas. Then we began our first drafts. Continue working on your drafts tonight. You will get one more class to write tomorrow. Remember the final edited and revised write is due on your blog by Thursday morning. Thursday will be our day to give feedback to our classmate group. Grade 7s, try the HOOPS decimals game. Try your estimation skills to guess quickly.
You have 2 posts for homework: First post what animal or subject are you are choosing for soapstone. I am impressed by your first online attempt at giving peer feedback for the 100 word write. Many comments are thoughtful and useful. I could not link most of your writes to the international site, nor can I comment directly to you on your google doc or blogger as you have not allowed access on your doc or blogger page. Please follow through with directions at the bottom of the page. Homework: 2nd POST: Go to the 100 word write page. Choose two specific comments (only copy one part of the student's comment, not the whole comment): • find one comment that you notice meets our criteria of being clear, helpful and includes a specific example. Then copy and paste it in today's post. • find one comment that you notice does not meet our criteria, but instead is vague, or not giving specific examples. Then suggest how to improve (no need to include the student's name, just copy the part you want to share) Sharing good examples helps us learn how to improve for next time. For example: specific example: 'I understand the 2 men and the tree. But I don't understand how its related to the cupcake and the picture.' vague example: 'Good ideas but I felt like I had to go reread a few parts' How to improve? Tell which part you had to reread Homework/Reminders:
