Our final Water Polo...we loved it! Phew! What a full day! Maker space in the morning...B.C. skills and then water polo. Oh and don't forget Candy!! We are almost there for our 21 days off gratitudes. Remember to post as well on Saturday and Sunday. Have a great weekend and remember to POST today's science reflection on the site. Once a member of your group posts, reply to their post and add to their opinions...don't repeat the same information. I encourage you to post an example of how to write a thoughtful reflection including what your group did, how you pushed your learning, what questions you had today, how you solved problems, and what you are going to do next. Newsletters are going home tomorrow for gr. 7s regarding parent informational meetings at high school. Gr 7s who are going to Clayton next year- there is an informational meeting on the evening of February 24th at 7 pm, earlier for tours Gr 7s who are attending Lord Tweedsmuir next year- the parent meeting is on the evening of February 23 at 6:45. Fix your hook if needed. Then choose your 3 ideas that you will write about when discussing your thesis. Then end your paragraph with your thesis statement which includes your opinion and topic. Practice giving your opinion by POSTing your opinion about this image. Here are some pics from drama today!! Homework: Remember to post your 3 gratitudes. We are experimenting to see if this makes our brain happy, therefore helping us work better. Today is day 10...11 more to go! HW Persuasive Writing: Following our discussion today about 'fitting in' and 'being who you are' and how media affects you, practice writing an introduction for homework. This should be about 5 sentences. Begin with a hook: (see POST info at bottom) You could ask a question, state a fact, tell a story, etc. Then elaborate: Give 3 general ideas that you are going to include about this topic. Then state your thesis: This statement expresses the main argument or opinion of your essay. It is your topic and opinion at the same time). Give it a try and we will share these tomorrow. Tomorrow is Drama and Maker space This is what we are currently using during Makerspace challenge. Writing: (Hook)POST We are learning how to write an effective persuasive essay. Here is a video with review on writing a hook. I especially like the comment at 8 min 9 sec. Pretend we are writing an introduction for an essay about How media affects you. POST a hook for this topic today. Try to be original. Here are two examples of grades 6s looking for angles in the school today!
Real life math! Happy Family Day on Monday! Remember to include your gratitudes this weekend...today, tomorrow, Sunday and Monday Grade 6s bring a protractor to measure angles if you don't have one at school. We are starting Geometry/Measurement on Tuesday. Clayton band was awesome today! Some of us could not stop moving...it was great music. Today we started our conversation about persuasive writing. Practice this by persuading your grade 7 classmates to join band in grade 8 (even if you don't want to). POST your argument with at least 2 good reasons and be convincing. Homework: Science 'Makerspace' reflection #3 Term goals due on the 12th. Have a great weekend and Family Day. (No school Monday) Wasn't that guitar playing amazing today? Here is another amazing group. Great day of learning today. Be sure all work is at school. Some of you are leaving books at home so you cannot add to your notes.
