Another full day with interesting science presentations and using reading strategies. POST your favourite learning activity this week and explain why. Homework:
Math gr. 6 Stewart pg. 308 #5,6/Middleton worksheet, even #s pg. 307-8 Reading: Be sure to be prepared by reading the pages you and your partner have written down. Don't let your partner down...the only way you can discuss your questions, wow's, confusions, key events and setting is if you read the section. Learning Journal-due Wed.: Do you have a digital 'pledge' or promise yet? If not, you should include that in this week's Learning Journal. This is about the expectations of your online behaviour. If you do have that in your first digital page, discuss what a digital footprint is and what you hope your footprint will look like as an adult. You can also include the positive and negative aspects of online use. Reminders: Titan wear order due Nov. 25th Some students still need to bring your art back to class (fundraiser card) Grade 7s ask to sign up for your bake sale fundraiser on Nov. 24th. PAC poinsettia and food orders Important Dates: November 22 - Early Dismissal 1:38 December 5-9 Report #1 Week December 7 - Early Dismissal 1:38 December 16 - Last day before Winter Break

Your last day is tomorrow to add to your presentation and we will begin sharing them. You and your partner are encouraged to prepare more detailed explanations or ideas to add to your presentation in addition to the minimal requirements if you are working towards the fully meets level of performance. eg. explain more about gravity and how acceleration is connected, what is the difference between weight and gravity, how is g-force related to a PNE ride? Reminders: Some students still need to bring your art back to class (fundraiser card) Grade 7s ask to sign up for your bake sale fundraiser on Nov. 24th. There were positive attitudes and evidence of physical fitness, social responsibility when helping others and many social interactions. Thanks to parents for driving. Way to go Div.2!! POST a comment: Share one thing you already know about the theme of the book you chose. Reading: We are about to start our partner reading with persecution themed novels. Today you chose a book to read and a partner to read with. Split your book into 3 fairly equal parts so you can discuss the schedule tomorrow. Then we will begin our reading. Math: Grade 7s you have a mid-chapter quiz on Wednesday so you should be sure to know how to find sums, differences, products and solve problems using decimals. You are expected to use a grid to find the product of two decimals less than 1 whole. Science: You will have one more class period to prepare for your presentation on mass, weight and gravity. Reminders:
You can probably get a pretty good view of the Supermoon tonight. YAY!!! The hoodies arrived!! 1 apple = 1 Newton We used spring scales to measure the force of gravity and recorded objects that weighed less than 1N and greater than 1N. Here are some of your results. Be sure to complete your notes on Mass, Gravity and Weight by Monday in order to use your entire class time working with your partner on your next assignment. If you did not add to your notes during our class discussion or if you were absent, re-watch the videos on the class site. Feel free to email me if you still have confusions. There is a non-instructional day tomorrow and Remembrance Day on Friday. This is your only reminder to remember we are skating on Monday, November 14th. You need to bring your clothing for the ice arena (gloves, coats), skates and helmets. Thank you to parent drivers. Parents drivers please meet in the class to have your driver's licence and insurance forms checked. POST: What are you going to do this weekend to reflect on Remembrance Day, November 11th? Or explain what you did and what you saw. Have a great weekend!! Looking ahead to Sunday Nov. 13th...see below for some interesting information. Today you measured the weight of objects in Newtons with spring scales. A few awesome scientists remembered to bring things to weigh. Today's POST:What was your favourite thing to weigh? What did it weigh? Were you surprised? Why? Why not? Remember to watch this clip again and add to your gravity notes. Complete your gravity sheet. You can review videos on gravity from previous days' links. Tomorrow is our Remembrance Day assembly. Watch the clip below and think about what this day means to you. Great fun today completing your painting. POST what Remembrance Day means to you. Homework: Revisit your weekend homework...many of you did not complete it...especially science! Twin Day tomorrow! Reminders: Tomorrow Twin Day Bring your interims back ** students you are to be showing parents your assessment section of your binders as well as looking on Freshgrade so parents can't read the actual documents. ****Important***Return skating field trip forms (Permission and Risk form) please so we can arrange transportation (**remember - we only have school Tuesday and Wednesday this week, then skating is the following Monday. Watch the video again to add to your notes for Monday. Here is another clip on mass to help you understand this concept. Special Request: 1. We need another 5 Peace cranes to hang on our tree at the Remembrance Day assembly. If anyone knows how to fold the cranes, we would appreciate you making one or more and bringing them on Monday. 2. On Monday we are going to measure items using a spring scale. Please bring an item from home that you can measure. It needs to be able to hang from a hook on the scale. POST: 1. Describe something you learned in Science about mass or weight? 2. What are you still wondering?
