On the 4th day of December, Div 2 gave to me...jumping jacks while singing ABCs. Be sure to share your learning with your parents. You received your chemical change marks today which is now the 3rd of three marks which make up your mark for Science. All 'non-band' students received your ancestral rubrics and you should do the same with this as it is an important part of your socials grade. The rest of you will receive yours tomorrow. POST: What is the key thing that you learned from doing these Ancestral essays? Guess what!! Reports tomorrow...have you been working on your goals like you promised at your interim? Have you been following through with your goals at home with your parent support? Well tomorrow you will be assessing yourself and this will be our focus at our conferences next week. Some of you are going to remind your parents to contact me to arrange for a time to conference. Math: gr. 7s 2 practice division questions using your grid. Reading: You should have your weekly reflection done in your reading notebook on Thursdays each week...but I will not be reading these until starting Monday. So as long as you have it done by Monday that is fine. (use your reflection criteria at the beginning of your book to help you.) Every Thursday is your reflection day but every day you read is your reading strategy day...aka stickie strategy. Thanks for all the wonderful comments on yesterday's website. For those of you who didn't like the ending,(and everyone else who didn't do this yesterday), watch the interview for the author's response and POST your thoughts about the author and her messages. You will be happy that you watched this.
Now that we are finished the global read aloud novel One For The Murphys, we are participating in reflections and discussions of our feelings. Today we reflected our thoughts in our notebooks...now do some reflecting with each other. POST your comments about how you feel about this novel. Were you satisfied with the ending? What would you have done differently if you were the author? We are fortunate to have a youtube recording of this wonderful author answering student questions. You have already watched up to 20 minutes and now you can watch the rest to find out what she thinks happened to Carly. Start at 20:56 and watch to the end. You will not be sorry. Then POST your impressions of the author Lynda Mullaly Hunt. What do think about her as an author, as a person, as a primary interviewee? French tomorrow
All reading marks should be explained and shared with parents by tomorrow. Math: Grade 7s pg. 123 #5d-f On the 2nd day of December, div 2 gave to me....a song of Jingle Bells. Today was another busy but productive day... We are almost finished our global read aloud One For The Murphys. I really enjoyed our conversation about family and the idea of unconditional love. We spent a lot of time discussing our reading program; what our marks mean and really understanding how to move our learning forward. Share this learning with your parents! Art - we finished and displayed our pastel ornament art as well as our animal art. Next we will work on some Christmas art and crafts. French was cancelled today. Math We are not only learning how to divide decimals but what it means when we divide. We also are reminded about what we need to do in order to improve from 1st term. e.g. pay attention to instruction, think while you listen, copy notes, rules and examples off the board, ask questions immediately when you don't understand, complete the practice, mark the practice and correct your errors. gr 7s Review division by decimals by watching this video Practice pg 123 #1b), 3a), b), 5a) Christmas Hamper donations
