We used a genius hour project to learn about fractions. We read the book 'The Lion's Share' to illustrate the meaning of 1/2, 2/4 and 4/8 being equal. Then we practiced with our rhombus shapes to identify parts of a whole. Math Homework: Be sure to complete the fraction practice that we started in class (one question left on pg. 32 worksheet and one practice page called Balloon Talk.) Writing: Be sure your assessment for writing has been completed and that your rubric for descriptive writing is in your assessment section of your binder. 1st draft of penpal letters due tomorrow. Language practice: homonyms, synonyms Genius Hour projects: Be sure to bring all materials for your genius hour projects tomorrow. This will be your 3rd class period. Less than half the class posted on yesterday's site. The rest of you need to post today or that is where you will start tomorrow. If you are not learning anything, then you need to modify your project so you will be learning something. Field trip to the Aquarium is on for the 19th of Dec. Newsletters will go home tomorrow. Please mention this to parents to give them a heads up. The band students will be performing on the 18th and parents are invited to view our genius hour projects after that concert. (Please mention this to your parents so they can arrange their schedule if they wish to come to our class that morning.) Post your favourite Christmas song... Mine is "Carol of the Bells". (Hark How The Bells) See below for a very different variation. (For some reason, I thought of Trollface...perhaps your next genius hour project?) See below for Mr. Lewis' favourite.

HOPEFULLY NOT. Their genius hour project. Not good bakers yet (no offence) I wouldn't want to eat it. I was told it is VERY dense/tough

My favourite Christmas song is "Christmas at Ground Zero" because it is very different from regular jolly ol' Christmas songs.
