Sorry this is late...staff meeting today :) Our last 'Novel Approach' learning intention was, 'I can make inferences when reading in order to deepen my understanding'. Read the inference examples below. POST...Create your own inference by writing two indication sentences and one inference conclusion as per the examples. Then share how inferencing helps you become a better reader. Inference: Deriving Conclusions from Indications:
Skating rocked today! Thanks to parent drivers for helping out in a pinch. We have enough drivers for water polo on Friday. Yay! Thanks parents. We have also extended our Poetry assignment deadline to Thursday as we want to spend some time creating and revising our poems. Be ready for your science demonstrations tomorrow. Thanks to those who went today. Here are some images of science and skating.

This is confusing Shadow...it seems to me that he just doesn't know when his hockey game or practice is.

Haha! Some of the faces in the goofy photo are so funny! My inference is: Sam is babysitting a baby and feeds her a bottle. The baby starts crying so she is inferring that it needs their diaper changed. Quote of the day: " Life is like gambling. You use your time but sometimes you lose it. Other times you can hit the jackpot. My point is, you have good and bad moments but that doesn't mean that you didn't have fun in the process of losing or winning." ~ Tyler Oakley (Me).

This is not inference Westcoast...if he thinks his soccer is at 5 and leaves after 5:45, he is simply late.

But his soccer practice is actually at 7, and it's 5:45 and he hasn't had to leave yet, so he infers that his soccer is not at 5.

Little Boy, this is not an inference. If Joe doesn't leave until after 3 for a practice he thought was at 3, he is late!!

My inference sentenece is: Holly doesn't have a watch to see what time it is to know when she has to leave to go to school, she saw that kids and parents were walking towards the school. So, Holly infers that she has to leave for school now.

Billy Beattle Bob Bed is not a very good juggler. He is juggling 4 apples very fast and unsteadily. I can infer that Billy Beattle Bob will drop a few apples and bruise them. ^

John's family has to go up to bed at exactly 10:00 pm. There was a power outage 30 minutes before and John didn't have a watch. When he saw his older brother, who did have a watch, go upstairs, he inferred it was 10:00 pm.
