Great day today! We are learning how to make connections and find meanings in poetry. Be sure you understand the difference between poetic devices such as metaphors, similes and personification. POST an example of a metaphor. Choose a math game (see the right side) to practice your skills in fractions. How many of you played 'Find Grampy'? It is hilarious. We have planned our Lichtenstein art and will begin the draft next week. Learning Intentions for Socials: I can locate and use reliable sources. I can identify and label places of interest on a map. Next directions for google maps. Find one landmark, special site or tourist attraction in each province and territory. Be sure to create a new layer and to add tags for each landmark. Then do research on these and write one to two sentences to describe what one can expect or see when they visit the site. Then include the link of your reliable source. Homework is to complete 5 landmarks. This is to be completed after class on Monday. Science: See the short video below to review Gravity, Force and Work. Monday we will add to our notes. Thanks to those who participated in the site yesterday.

The clouds were like cotton balls dancing in the sky. The river was like glass in the crystal light of the moon.

Tyler-I love the image you create of clouds like cotton balls but using 'like' is a simile. You can make it into a metaphor by leaving like out and simply saying the 'cotton ball clouds'. You are also including personification here with the dancing in the sky which makes me smile.

An example of a metaphor: I feel blue - This doesnt mean you are the color blue. Sometimes people say it meaning they're sad. That's why this a metaphor.
