Grade 6s: You are using the data from one of your survey questions to practice creating a pictograph and a different question for a bar graph. These are due Tuesday. Here are some examples of pictographs that are similar to the ones you are doing for homework. Remember to include a title, labels for your x and y axis (number of classmates asked with total of 8 and the choices), the same symbol for your pictures and colour, and a legend with the explanation of what your symbol represents (the legend is not really necessary this time as the symbol already represents each type of vegetable and we are creating one symbol for each person asked. Below are some examples of bar graphs. Thank you for all your suggestions for outdoor games yesterday. Some of you repeated ideas but we have lots to choose from for our fitness breaks. After our google doc work and brainstorming as individuals and as a class, here are the 3 areas to choose from for your Socials Poverty Action Plans: 1. Raising money to donate to an organization 2. Raising awareness to make a difference eg. petition, website 3. Physical work eg. garden to help with food going to food bank, Salvation Army, Save-On Food bank Today we spent some time discussing our action plans for Socials. POST: What are some of your specific questions that you need to answer in order to move forward in your chosen activity?

I would like to be part of the raising money group. My questions for the bottle drive idea is How are we going to collect bottles? How are we going to convince people that we are using the bottles for money for a cause?, there's alot more. Who and what are we going to ask for permission? This question moved my group forward because we had to think beyond in order in have permission for our idea. We had lots of opinons, Parents, the store manager and etc.

I would like to be a part of the money raising group. My questions are How will we make sure that everyone gets a flyer or notice? How do we know that people are ok with us taking their bottles? Will they put them on their porch if they are participating? How will we know when we have a good amount of bottles? How do we know that we have not alot or not enough to donate? Should we each have a goal planned for money? How do we know when we have reached or exceeded our goal after we collected? What if we take the bottles to the bottle depot and collect the money. What if we don't reach our goal or don't have enough? LONG WEEKEND WOOO! Quote of the day: "Be the change you want to see in the world."~Mohandas Gandhi.

Some questions of how we can move further and plan ahead are: What days will we be available to do the activitie? How can we make it understandable for the people who will be donating? Which parents from my group are able to drive us to the bottle depot and will write the check? What are we going to do after the activitie is complete? Should we do it together as a group collecting the bottles or should we do it in partners or individuals in our neighborhood? What will make the donators want to give them their bottles on our flyers? What is the big plan? Im actually really excited on doing this. In church we do a thing called mission. Where we spread the word of Jesus around the poor countries and pray and help for those in need. Though I am not able to go because my mom and dad said to focus on my studies first and we cant affort the fee. So when I grow up, I want to travel the globe and actually see how poverty is in other places. Like my project is about sanitation in Afghanistan. If I can, when I grow up I want to go there and see. See you guys tomorrow! Another day of learning!

Some questions are: What will we need to do this? when can we organize this activity? and will we provide direct help or indirect help?
