Today we began our learning about extreme environments. Post the name of the extreme environment that you are really curious about and give one interesting fact that you have found out. Imagine being a modern day explorer. See the videos below. Have a great long weekend and be sure to be ready to discuss your action plan.

I would like to explore an extreme enviroment like the ocean. Fact: About 70 percent of the planet is ocean, with an average depth of more than 12,400 feet. Given that photons (light) can’t penetrate more than 330 feet below the water’s surface, most of our planet is in a perpetual state of darkness. Isn't that crazy?! I just thought that the fact about the extreme enviroment the ocean is amazing! I even enjoy the fact where you cant dive too deep with gear due to water pressure and air pressure. So that's why they send in little mini submarines! Fascinating isn't it? Quote of the day: "You can only be brave if you're scared." ~Unknown. #2: "The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a persons determination."~Tommy Lasorda. Have a good weekend everyone! :)

I would like to explore outer space. I have found out that Voyager 1, the furthest man-made object traveling in space has contains many information about earth for aliens, and one of those objects is a record of the many music of earth, like rocket engines, sounds of animals and many more.

I cannot chose between the ocean or space. Because we know less about our own sea than outer space but space is infinite. So it's a hard decision.

I am curious about space. Fact: Temperature extremes can typically be somewhere between 250 degrees Fahrenheit below 0 to 250 degrees above 0.

I'm curious about the the deep ocean. I know lots about the more upper part and reefs and stuff but not much about the deep ocean. I wanted to do a quote of the day mainly because it's been in my head all day. " Some people will push you to the ground. What you have to do is have courage to stand your ground and not give them the time of day. Hold on to your power and never give it away. ~ Donna Schoonrock

Fact: there is an ocean on Neptune but not an ocean of water but gas! Thought this one was interesting because it's 2 in one extreme environments!

Right now I would like to explore outer space but I might change my mind. I did a project on space and I know quite a bit so I would like to learn something new.

I would like to do mine on Antarctica. Antarctica is the coldest place on Earth, as well as the windiest. The lowest temperature ever registered was of -89⁰C in 1983, while in the warmest day of summer, it doesn’t reach more than 15⁰C near the coast. It is also really dry. once there was no rain there for 2 million years. This is the only place on Earth where the emperor penguin can be found. more facts found at http://smashingtops.com/places/10-interesting-facts-about-antarctica/

Im very curios about the ocean. I don't really know that much about it as now. Though I only knew that some parts of it are beautiful. Fact: The average depth of an ocean is 12,200 feet. See you guys on Tuesday! Another day of learning!

1 extreme environment I find interesting is space... Fact:Space is one of the most extreme environments imaginable. Above the insulating atmosphere of the Earth, spacecraft are subjected to extremes of temperature, both hot and cold, and a significantly increased threat of radiation damage.

I would like to learn about a couple environments hyper saline (high salt), acidic and radiation all these environments seem so it resting it makes me want to research more about them they also make this topic a lot more fun I can tell this will be a fun topic because it is hard for me to post just one interesting extreme environment!

I'm very intrigued by outer space, here is one of my facts. Outer space is an extreme environment because there is no air (which means not one living thing can live, unless you believe in aliens). The temperatures can go from boiling hot in the light of the sun to freezing cold in shadow of the planets.

I chose the space. A fact i learned was that since earth is filled with so many people, and even more noises, to other life outside of earth (if there are any) it may seem like earth is just sprinting around the sun, screaming
