Post a comment describing how abiotic and biotic parts affect one another in the environment. Give an example and be detailed when explaining their important relationship. Be sure to read previous responses to avoid repeating. The more original examples, the better. For example. A lynx is a biotic organism that depends on other biotic organisms such as the hare for food. The hare's white coat allows it to blend with the white snow. The white snow is part of the climate in that region and is abiotic. (As you can see the living organisms are affected by other living things and by the non-living parts of the environment around them). Homework:
Science: finish 3 column roles sheet start assignment - due Monday (see criteria) Math: finish review sheet (1st side we did in class only) begin assignment -due Friday (see criteria), you will have 2 classes to work on it, and Friday's class if you need it. Writing: edit 100WC for tomorrow

A tiger roams around a jungle and depends on other biotic organisms for food but the tiger uses their abiotic environment to hunt Dow his prey by climbing trees crawling through bushes and other abiotic items.

Remember Mr. Coolman, trees and bushes are biotic.

A Banded Palm Civet depends on another biotic organism for food, rodents including mice. mice depend on shelter in the dirt which is abiotic

The owl depends on tree's for it's shelter ( biotic ), water for drinking ( abiotic ) and mice for food ( biotic ). You need water ( rain ) in order for tree's to grow and since tree's are the owls shelter you need biotic and abiotic element's like tree's and water to balance an animals habitat out.

Oh ya Marilyn...and isn't it cool how owls are camouflaged in the trees. Nature has a way of blending their colours together.

An owl depends on other biotic creatures such as vole, rabbit, and mice. The voles and mice seek shelter in the dirt, which is abiotic, and the brown rabbit depends on the dirt for camoflauge.

No worries Diamond. I love how you used the scientific term 'camouflage'. Do you think the army got its ideas from nature?

The chipmunk's rely on tree's for shelter ( biotic ),acorn's for food ( biotic ),other nuts ( biotic ), water ( abiotic ), and air ( abiotic ). These 4 elements make it possible for the chipmunk to live.

A lizard depends on temperature and light for warmth ( Abiotic), water to drink( Abiotic) and the lizard could take shelter in forest animal burrows or under dead grass( Biotic), and the lizard depends on other organisms for food( Biotic)

Bats rely on flies for food for themselves and young, the flies rely on the light NOT to show up but it doesn't help much I mean really If you listen carefully you can hear millions of flies trying to run for their lives and millions more getting eaten alive. The bats rely on sound to keep existing so that it can use echolocation to find flies.

A lion cub depends on its parents (biotic) to care for it. It also depends on its habitat which has abiotic things such as grass to use as shelter or as other food.

Some biotic factors are the plants that give us oxygen, and the animals that we eat. Some abiotic factors are the sun, water, and soil.

Hey Fred and Stunt, you missed the part about giving a specific example. Yes, though you have listed correct biotic and abiotic factors.

A snake depends on mice and other rodents{biotic} to eat and survive. It also depends on climate, oxygen, and water {abiotic} to survive. Snakes need specific climate to survive because it will die if it is to cold.
