We had great time with our buddies today. This is the Remembrance Day sunflower we made together and below is the contemporary dance show presented by our buddies and the other grade 3s. I can't wait until we learn our dance!! Be sure to start your academic and personal goals. POST on Fresh grade what you are doing this weekend to work towards your goal. You have read a few Remembrance Day poems, chosen a favourite, listened to some shared in class and discussed the techniques used. Before completing your own poem, watch the video below. Perhaps it will inspire you. What makes this story powerful? Songs begin as poetry so POST what you think is powerful and what techniques are used to evoke emotion from the audience. Then see if you can revise your poem to make it stronger. Here is the criteria for your Remembrance Day poetry: • meaningful message, connected to Remembrance Day • powerful language that creates strong visuals • evokes emotions • free verse or rhyme • correct spelling, capitals at beginning of each line, punctuation Have a great weekend. Remember to bring your gym strip on Monday as we have one hour of gym for our pre-lesson to Water Polo.

One of many attributes that make this song sound strong is the singer's voice and the constant off-key sounds that he makes for some sort of emphasis. Some scenes depict the lyrics of the song.

I think rhyming and alliteration make a very strong effect on the audience and makes them realize the message in a way that other strategies don't.

I think harsh experiences or metaphors could create emotion. I wouldn't say very harsh but a storyline about being in the war and what's going on in your head and around you. Like Defiant one said rhyming and alliteration make a very good effect! In fact, my poem is actually a rhyming poem! Haha! So excited for the short week! 2 days of school and then a 5 day weekend to relax and have some adventures! Have a good weekend everyone!

I agree with tyleroakley. I think strong phrases or personal experiences could make the audience feel emotion from your poem. I hope everyone has an awesome weekend! See you guys on Monday. :-)

This song is powerful because it speaks to everyone, it's a good message to everyone. The song uses a lot of techniques to evoke emotion for example they use some strong words that really speak to people. Also if they have lived or been through that kinda thing then it's more then someone just singing a song about something they haven't been through.

Just went down memory lane all the way back to May 4th on this site. I was trying to remember what the video name was. It was the Jafar anti racism video. I also watched div 2 rocks and I got all teary eyed from remembering our class.

I think that some techniques the guy used is repeating words and some of the time rhyming, in my poem some of the words are repeated, but if you repeat them too much then it doesn't sound so powerful.

I think the topic of this song was meaningful to the writer which made a very important song to him so he was able to evoke more emotion in the listeners.

Fact of the day: Only 6% of people work in the profession they aspired to in childhood, a study in Spain found.
