Yay! Our Grade 7 gradwear arrived.
To parents and students:
It was another productive week continuing with our learning and classroom community goals .
Students have joined extracurricular volleyball, Think We and are well into their routine of their school leadership jobs.
We completed a reflection last week regarding recognizing how they can improve their learning. Students practice recording homework and reminders in their planners, organizing their notebooks and bins, completing homework (work not completed during class) and meeting the daily classroom expectations eg. daily math corrections and preparing assignments for the following day. Students who struggle with these responsibilities, need to spend additional time outside of class in order to achieve success. I am available before and after school for extra help. Please encourage your child to ask me for help or approach me with their concerns.
Final unit test results for divisibility are on Freshgrade and original copies of tests, journal and practice are in student binders and exercise books.
We began our unit on addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using decimals.
Students are continuing to record at the back of their writing exercise books, specific personal areas of focus for their next writes. We have begun our writing connection with two international schools and student pen pals. We are in our 8th week of 100 word writes and they can be viewed on this class site under the student's fictitious name. Pen pals have introduced themselves and we will begin giving and receiving feedback. (at least one positive comment and one suggestion for improvement).
Students are also beginning book sharing and formal commercials this next week.
Student Fresh grade portfolios are up and running and parents should have received an invitation to their child's portfolio. Please email Ms Wilson if you (parents) cannot open the site.
P.E. is every Tuesday and Thursday: Gym strip, participation, leadership, team play, sportsmanship and fitness are expectations. We are working on volleyball skills and games over the next few weeks.
