Remember that your retakes for photos are tomorrow. We are aiming for your art to be completed tomorrow, but if you need the extra day to complete your best job then take until Friday. Remember no replica weapons on Hallowe'en. On Friday we will have some time for games so you can bring your favourite board games to play. You may also bring your own drink and a snack to share for the afternoon if you wish. There will be two prizes to give away on Friday. The most creative male and female costumes. (we will create the criteria tomorrow) We started exploring some key moments through time that have impacted biodiversity, such as DDT, cloning, extinction and disease. Then you chose a topic to find additional examples. POST your science findings on tonight's site. See the above questions.

The math question is: What is the lowest equivalent fraction for 8/64? Extinctions means species that no longer exists in the world, there is none of the same kind left. It’s affecting loss of biodiversity because if an animal is no longer living in the world it might affect how the cycle works. For example wolves, if wolves were extinct the deer’s behavior would’ve never changes and it could be dangerous for them. Other animals would suffer too because then they don’t have meet from the deer. Also the rivers would’ve never changes. Every animal is an important part of the process. See you guys tomorrow!!

Extinction can happen from hunting, overfishing, global warming and more.

The term cloning describes a number of different processes that can be used to produce genetically identical copies of a biological entity. The copied material, which has the same genetic makeup as the original, is referred to as a clone.

Agent Orange was used to kill forested areas. it caused serious health problems to humans and plants. During the Vietnam war, the USA army used it to kill people who lived in the bush in Vietnam. it was so powerful it caused tumors, birth defects, rashes, psychological symptoms and cancer among returning US servicemen and their families as well as among the Vietnam population.

My biodiversity issue is Chernobyl which is a nuclear power plant in Ukraine. The site had a nuclear meltdown and killed 28 out of 600 workers 106 workers received acute radiation sickness Chernobyl was closed down for 30 years after the incident because the radiation levels were very high. This affects biodiversity because it killed a lot of insects and harmed the environment around I will take further intrest in this project with my partner.

Today I found info on extinction. Extinction is caused by many different reasons:

First off I'd like to say most of the art work I've seen is looking AMAZING! You all are doing such an amazing job and your ideas are just so brilliant and creative! Secondly, Halloween is on Saturday (but we are planning on doing stuff on Friday) and I am SUPER SUPER SUPER EXCITED! Can you tell? It's just such a fun time where you can enjoy yourself and awe at others costumes too! I bet everyones costumes will be amazing too! Lastly I'm going to get to work on this extinction post! Alright here we go. Some of these causes are mostly natural causes of extinction! Here are the most common ones I could find: Climatic Heating and Cooling,Changes in Sea Levels or Currents,Asteroids/Cosmic Radiation,Acid Rain,Disease/Epidemic,and Spread of Invasive Species. Now some human causes for extinction:Increased human population,Destruction/Fragmentation of Habitat,Pollution,Climate Change/Global Warming. All credit goes to: http://people.uwec.edu/jolhm/eh4/extinction/CausesLink.html and if you want a better explaination of these causes you can go to that link, copy and paste it into your search bar, and explore! I'm sure there are many other causes but these are the ones that I found! Have an amazing night everyone! Cool beans :)

My issue is Agent Orange. I found out that first of all Agent Orange is a disease and it. The military used mixtures known as defoliants.During the Vietnam war the us military would pour gallons of herbicides those are plant killing chemicals. They used on frosts to remove the frosts cover and to destroy crops and plants. But when they would that sometimes it would hit people and they would get very sick and maybe die. They would dump out of planes.

I looked into Chernobyl and found out that areas 1,000 miles away were affected by the power plants melt down. The power plant its self is located in northern Ukraine near the border of Belarus. Places in Finland experienced radiation levels six times higher than normal, you could imagine how this would effect the ecosystem of these areas. If your wondering the average amount of background radiation we're exposed to is about 3.1 microsieverts (mSv) per year. If you want to learn more about radiation follow this link

They want to clone woolly mammoths because they want to find out how they were extinct, and what the difference is between the. Mammoth and an elephant except the part were the mammoth has a wool coat. Even though, I think they were extinct because they were hunted down and use the fur, because mammoths lived in a cold environment.

Im drained! Its starting to be a really long hard week. Im glad there's only two more days left of school. And Halloween! (Well, one since im posting late and its only 2 hours until tommorow will turn to 'today'. I have a volleyball game tommorow, I have the retake, working on my book talk and finishing my art, and my costume. For the fact that my costumes only half-done and Halloween's right around the corner. And by corner I mean "really close". But you know what the Sam Levenson says "Don't watch the clock, instead do what its doing, keep on going. So my issue is Agent Orange. I was going to do a different one but if you don't know I'm short-term memory so I don't know a thing that was on the board except extinction and Agent Orange. But, darn. I wish I was different. Ha, that reminds me of the Wonder. Getting back on topic, Agent Orange is also known as Herbicide Orange. Its one of the herbicides and defoliants used by the U.S Military Program. If you don't know what herbicides mean; mostly known as weed killers, are pesticides used to kill unwanted plants. Fussy herbicides kill specific targets, while leaving the desired crop kind of unharmed. A defoliant is any chemical sprayed or dusted on plants to cause its leaves to fall off. These caused many extincition in varies of plants and also caused cancer and many health problems to people who were near the area of Agent Orange in Vietnam. The 2,4,5-T in Agent Orange was contaminated with small amounts of dioxins. Dioxins are a group of dozens of related chemicals. It affected loss of biodiversity very much.
