Math: Finish first side of subtraction review Do #1 of word problems. French: Title page-work on this and it is due after Thursday's class. Sharing tomorrow: Cookie Monster and Mickey How to write comments: Learning Intention: I can write effective blog comments. Learning Intention: I can write effective blog comments. Homework: First read the comment rules below and post your promise to follow these rules. This is an important agreement so be certain that you understand the promise. Type your promise using this frame: "I promise to follow these rules for effective commenting." Then sign your name. (Always use your fictitious name) Then post at least one comment on your classmates' 100WC stories. Your comments are your 'visible thinking' practice. We all benefit from feedback whether it is self-reflection or from others. I want you to practice giving your opinions and try responding to each other on the posts on our kidblog.org/MsWilsondiv2. These rules are designed to keep you safe and to make the blogging site a fun place to be. 1. You may comment on any post in this weebly blog any time you like, but remember to follow the “GOOD” commenting guidelines below. 2. On the Kidblog 100 word challenge site, it may be best to log in first before commenting, otherwise you are recorded as a ‘Guest’. 3. When you do leave posts or comments on a blog, mention fictitious names only. 4. Remember not to give out any personal information on-line: if in doubt, leave it out! 5. Leave quality comments, don’t use the blog to chat. 6. Never leave your email address or any other personal details in a post or comment. 7. Please punctuate your comments properly. Where are the stops and pauses to help the reader? 8. Check your spelling – ask for help if you need it. Trying to spell it yourself and using a dictionary resource first is almost always better than just being told the word. 9. Avoid text-speak.'lol' 10. All comments will be read and checked before they appear on the site. 11. Have fun and enjoy using your blog! WHAT MAKES A GOOD BLOG COMMENT? · Related to the question/topic · Details, explaining ideas, connections, examples · Correct spelling, grammar ( as best you can so it makes sense) · Appropriate (no swearing, no personal, no put downs/insults) · Add information, explain why you agree/disagree · Feedback to your peers to further their understandings GOOD comments: When people take the time to write a post, it’s fantastic. Have a look at our Kidblog site and see the comments already. Ask Bugs and MrCoolman how they feel. Try to find the time to write a comment to let others know what you think. When you write comments, keep these things in mind: 1. Be positive! Remember to tell the author the things you liked about the post. 2. If you have any criticism, then write it down, but be positive. Use comments like ‘even better if’ or try ‘three stars and a wish.’ 3. Just saying ‘’good work’ might make the author feel good, but even better would be saying why it’s good work. 4. Comments can be read by anyone from all over the world – teachers, parents, governors, politicians, even celebrities! Please use your best writing skills and try to be as accurate as possible with spellings – take pride in your comments! Use the THINK acronym when you are commenting to others! (I adapted it a bit but thanks to our blogging buddy class last year Mr. Boylen for the resource) T thoughtful and true H helpful I inspire and instruct N necessary K kind Here is another example from a guest. Here is this week's prompt for your 100W story.... and then I saw a bright light... You must use these words somewhere in your writing and please keep them together.
