Science: We completed our discussion on static electricity and began our study of current electricity and how it travels. We also started researching to find out about the history of electricity. Be sure to come with your notes tomorrow on lightning and anything you found out about the history of electricity. You will be having a quiz on Tues. on the terms and concepts you have learned (atoms, friction, static electricity and how it works, lightning, current electricity, insulators, conductors, discharge ) Band and drumming Socials: Come tomorrow with a topic in mind for your Ancient Civilization project and any materials you can find. You will have a class tomorrow to begin. This is a socials-art-genius hour project. Photography: Look at your photos on google drive and comment on your doc. (I have already shared one with your name on it) State what you like about your photos and why, what you will do differently, etc. Be sure to click on 'done', then it will share with me. Bring all work to organize for Thursdays interim. Friday is Pancake and Western day...thanks to our PAC. We get to eat pancakes in the morning during school and practice a little line dancing. How fun is this!! Be sure to dress in western gear.

Science homework: Static Electricity: Can you explain why this is happening? Be sure you have the notes from Friday and today. Here is the video for review or if you are absent. Hi Joe! We also began taking some notes from our text on lightning. Here is a helpful video to complete your notes. What is lightning and how does it happen? Photography:
Today we took pictures of our object keeping the rule of thirds in mind and trying various background colours and textures in the classroom. Be sure to download 1 or 2 favourite photos in the appropriate folder. Many of you forgot your meaningful object today so you need to do that for homework or come in before class to complete the task. Remember to include your name and type of photo eg. rule of thirds Assess today's goal on the sheet provided if you didn't do that at the end of the day. Tomorrow is PE but bring gym strip every day as it is starting to be lovely weather and we can go outside any day. We will be beginning our running again so bring a water bottle. Reading with buddies today...how fun was that! Your little buddies look up to you and love spending time with you. We also made sure our Mother's Day gifts went home...Ssssshhhhh it is a surprise for Sunday! HW Comment on how your goal went today since we forgot to assess at the end of the day. Bring at least one object on Monday that represents you (your interest, characteristics, or values). Final unit math percent test on Monday (Grade 7's problem solving using percents) Complete science notes answering our 3 key questions: 1. What is happening when you rub a balloon with a cloth? 2. What is friction? 3. What is static electricity and how does it work? (include explanations about atoms, electrons, protons and neutrons and what happens) Photography: when you download your photos, be sure to include your name and the purpose eg. rules of thirds Those who used school cameras will have to download their photos on Monday. Here is a great example from Bugs of a subject in focus (focus point) versus the background.(depth of field) Be sure to share your photos from today and tomorrow on our google folder (Photography div 2) and be sure to include your name so we know who the photo is from. Comment on today's site which other photos you think is a good example of focus point and depth. Grade 6 and 7 final percent, ratio and estimation unit test is on Monday. Have a good night and see you tomorrow. A formal good-bye to Mr. Rayat. It's not good-bye as we will see him around as a TOC. Division 2 stars see the light! 2 months to go until the end of the school year. HW: Math: grades 7 Ms W 2-sided practice Mrs. Middleton and Mr. Hong - check site Science look at all the questions that you had about electricity below and add more on the comments - complete your chart (uses, purposes and what did people used to do) How did Franklin learn about electricity? How did people learn to understand it? How was it invented or found? Time period? What are some of the things electricity is used for? How does it travel through wires? How do you get an electric shock? How does sulfuric acid inside batteries power it? Why is it that different wires with difference amounts of wires have different uses? How is lightning created? What is the most dangerous thing it can cause? How is it produced? How strong does the current have to be to kill someone? Why? Where is electricity stored? What is the connection between electricity and rubber? What happens with electricity and water? How does it travel? Why is electricity drawn to metal? Why do we want to preserve electricity? How dependent are we on electricity? Why and how does gold conduct electricity? What is the cause of the shocks eg. walking on the carpet and touch someone? How do dams and turbines create electricity? What is the easiest and most common way to make electricity? Have parents sign your socials summary sheet and rubric and return to class tomorrow. Reading: We are learning the importance of making inferences when we read. Today we made inferences about a picture and a poem. Study the image below and on today's comments, explain what you think is happening. Include the evidence you see or background information that supports your thinking. The caption is 'The fifth one ended up in France.' Wow it is so great to be back!! I know we spent a great deal of time today on our class meeting but it was important to discuss what we need to do to be successful over the next two months. Thanks for all of your comments and I am excited about this last stretch of learning. Also thanks to those who organized our brain break activities. Today we began thinking about what we know in electricity and what we want to find out. Check out these cool lightning images!!! (check out the spelling of lightning) Math: gr. 7's...Today we reviewed what we already understand and I am so impressed with your skills grade 7's who were in div. 2. You will receive your test back for LI#1 and 2 tomorrow. Your homework is to mark your weekend work, do corrections and come prepared with all questions that you still have. Mr. Hong's-see site Mrs. Middleton-no HW gr. 6's pg. 198 #2-6 SEE YOU TOMORROW! HomeworkHello Division 2,
