BBC News CBC News The Province The Vancouver Sun Global News CTV News Your draft should be completed for the 100 word write and you can begin editing and revising it. We are taking notes tomorrow on the questions you wrote down today about government, the gods and kings. You will soon get your final assignment for this unit, due before the break. No POST except the secret ticket into the class tomorrow morning is describing one of Hammurabi's laws. You will also have a final test on Mesopotamia next week. Reminders: Pink Shirt Day Wednesday, Feb. 24 and band performance Grade 7 Final unit test on Decimals on Thursday morning: add, subtract, multiply, divide, order of operations (see below for review video on dividing decimals) Come tomorrow prepared with questions. (4.48 divided by 1.4)
Dividing with decimals can seem difficult at first, but it's important to treat them like any other long division problem. For example, use this problem: First set up the problem as you would any other long division equation. Now you need to remove the decimal point from the divisor. Do this by moving it to the right until the divisor is a whole number (14).Do the same thing to the dividend by moving its decimal point to places to the right (44.8).Now place the decimal point directly above the division sign.Continue solving the problem using normal long division until you find your answer.14 goes into 44 three times with a remainder of two. Place the three on the left side of the decimal point in the answer area. Subtract 42 (three multiplied by 14) from 44 to get 2. Then bring down the eight to get 28. Now divide that number by 14 to get 2. Put the two on the right side of the decimal and you can see that the final answer is 3.2. Work on your areas of difficulty since you have the long weekend...eg. math test grade 7s on Tuesday, writing goals to be signed and improved on. Have a great weekend! We learned how Mesopotamians communicated by cuneiform.
Share "POST" one thing that you have learned so far about Trade, Geography and Writing. We then took notes on what Sumerians traded. Tomorrow we will look at how Sumerians communicated through writing. To get us started, POST one question that you have about writing in Ancient Mesopotamia, then find and post the answer. Today we also reviewed how the water in a river can be higher than the land. Here is a satellite image of the Tigris and Euphrates and an image of the key cities around Sumer. Here is the video we watched during math to help grade 7s with their Order of Operations. Be sure to hand in your corrections for 3.8 if you want me to check your comprehension. ** Remember to look after your learning...it takes you to be prepared for your final test.
