What an amazing conversation you had on yesterday's website. I especially found the following comments to be insightful and thought-provoking. This are what some of you stated: I imagine my tree kind of like The Giving Tree because it gave me the opportunity to build my tree fort and in return I give it respect by not destroying it or harming it in any way shape or form. I imagine The Giving Tree to be kind of like the Lorax because he cuts down the tree bit by bit and then when he comes back when he is old the tree is nothing but a stump. The tree is still nice to him by allowing him to sit on said stump and rest. In the Lorax the forest is cut down and used up and nothing is left but a wasteland. At the end when all the trees are regrowing the old man comes out and sees the beauty. Both stories are about not using up environmental resources. The giving tree gave everything to the boy, and somehow still managed to be happy. I guess this is how parents feel about their children. I related to this because parents put their children first to love and take care of them and make sure they are safe before then thinking of themselves. Personally I am happy that I don't get whatever I want because when I am older I need to rely on my self and not other people. Here are the students with their little buddies practicing their Christmas song. Here is one of my favourite Christmas songs. What is yours?
