To parents and students:
In general, I am noticing more willingness to participate in group activities. Thursday was our cardboard challenge and each group created impressive projects including a hockey game, theatre, and arcade games. (see below for pictures)
Students shared their interims with parents and have started reflections on Freshgrade. This is a valuable learning opportunity as they identify how to improve. Students with continued difficulties or confusions, often need to spend additional time outside of class in order to achieve success. I am available before and after school for extra help. Please encourage your child to ask me for help or approach me with their concerns.
We are continuing our unit on improve our computational fluency with addition, subtraction, multiplication and division using decimals.
Students are starting their 9th week of 100 word writes and they can be viewed on this class site under the student's fictitious name. Pen pals have introduced themselves and students have begun exchanging feedback. Next steps are using their feedback to improve their writing.
Students are also continuing formal commercials next week.
Students had their first unit test on the properties of matter and are continuing to study how matter changes.
Parents have signed and returned the interims and they have seen their child's Freshgrade.
You will receive a notice next week regarding our field trip to view the movie 'Wonder'. We also have a skating field trip on November 22 and will receive a notice soon.
P.E. is every Tuesday and Thursday: Gym strip, participation, leadership, team play, sportsmanship and fitness are expectations. We are working on volleyball skills and games over the next few weeks.
