HAPPY SPRING BREAK! It sounds like everyone is going to have a great holiday. Be safe and rest up for the final term this year. How many books are you going to read this holiday? POST the title(s) you are reading. I'm just starting a novel called Follow the Elephant. No other comments today unless you wish to share what you are doing over the break. I will keep you posted when I can and maybe upload some photos from Africa. I will enjoy watching your Scratch projects showing your ability to code.

There was a lot of information on the causes and effects of poverty. One example was the woman named Vickie who after working for 12 years for the same company with the goal of being a full-time employee, was still part time with no benefits, job security or set hours. Think about these questions for tomorrow's response. Do you think she fits the stereotype of someone in poverty? What is her issue? What are the benefits of working full and part time? She had to work throughout the time that she was having cancer treatments. Why is this happening? Whose responsibility is it to make sure she is getting paid fairly? Thank you to Mrs. D for coming in to tell her story about her job ending. She talked about having a rally (peaceful protest) POST: Above is a picture of Mahatma Gandhi and a quote he is famous for saying. Gandhi led India to independence from Britain through non-violent disobedience (peaceful protests). He inspired movements for civil rights and freedom across the world. Leave a comment: What do you think Gandhi meant when he said, "Poverty is the worst form of violence"? Do you think a hunger strike is an effective way to protest? Homework:
