Wow December 1st already! Thank you to those who have donated for our Christmas family. We are accepting donations until December 9th. This is a wonderful gift of giving at Christmas. Thanks to those who posted yesterday. By the way...I disagree with some of you...I am a lot older than gr. 3 and I really enjoyed the acting, singing and dancing yesterday. They had a clear message in this play. Write down what you think the message about Ghengis Khan was and your ticket in tomorrow will be to hand me that piece of paper. We are learning a variety of colouring techniques (blending, line direction and shading) to add to our Perspective art. Let's review what you learned about perspective and colour last week and today. POST one response (Do not say the same thing as your classmate): What are the different techniques or rules for colouring? Be sure to explain the procedure eg. how to colour a brick? a tree? the lines on a road? how to create the shadow? how to create the trunk or leaves of a tree? how do we show perspective?how do we ensure neatness and accuracy? how do you create balance? Science: Some of you need another day to prepare your science so your demonstration can be on Monday. It is very important that you know and explain clearly all the forces involved in your demonstration.
Important Dates: December 5-9 Report #1 Week December 7 - Early Dismissal 1:38 December 12 - Swimming Field trip (instead of skating) December 15th - Christmas assembly December 16 - Last day before Winter Break Today we reviewed Newton's laws and demonstrated two of them to give you an idea of how to present your law on Friday. Almost everyone has chosen an example to use. There are a couple of you that need to decide by tomorrow morning. Please try to be original (meaning don't choose one that has already been discussed in one of our definitions or read in our books) Be sure to understands your law and all of the language and forces involved in explaining it to your classmates. Start researching to make this an interesting demonstration. POSTyour next steps for our 'Deck the Doors' art. What are you going to add to help finish our display and achieve your goal of Santa's workshop inside and pond and sleigh outside? We need to finish this Thursday and Friday.
POST what you did to contribute to our 'Deck the Doors' today. How did you feel about your contribution today? What is one thing you could have improved on? Happy 'Jammy' day! Here are the non-band students who had spirit today! Then there was our start to 'Deck the Doors' with treats and hot chocolate. Below are also some of the perspective art first drafts done over the weekend. I think you can see that there is much effort put into these. For those of you who feel anxiety before tests try this:

I do have tiny colour photos of you that we could glue on different bodies. It was another fun day with so much learning. You completed part 2 in your novels and used feedback to improve a second response. We reviewed our science terms and Newton's 1st law. See the video below and review yesterday's site to complete the 2nd and 3rd laws. For art, your task this weekend is to finish designing the signs, banners, windows, and doors of your cityscape. (Remember you have a choice of designing different shapes on top of buildings or designing different heights of the buildings or you can combine the two ideas. Below I have included some of the examples you were following today during class. If you want to play around with perspective drawing, try designing your name. (Your letters are given a 3D effect by drawing the lines from the letters to the vanishing point.) You might have fun teaching your parents how to do this on the weekend. POST the most difficult part you had today doing this activity. What will you do to help yourself improve next time? Please have your ruler at school next week. Homework: Grade 7s you have a final unit math test on Thursday. You have Monday and Tuesday classes to review your skills and Wednesday to see me if you still need help.
