Organize...organize...organize! Well we spent a great part of our day organizing our assessment section of our binder in order to share our learning Thank you for your focus and effort. You will understand how to move your learning forward so much better when you take ownership of your learning. I am very proud of the student-led interims that were done today. You shared your goals and assessments with your parents. You also chatted about how your parents could support your learning. You now have 3 weeks before your final first report to practice the strategies you have chosen. Thank you to those 'keeners' for submitting a 100 word write this week. I hope you get chosen for the showcase.
Socials test: Yes, it is on oceans, continents, Canada's provinces, territories and capital cities and it was on yesterday's homework site as well. (Yes this is straight memorizing...but as one of your classmates said...you have been doing this since grade 3. Do you know your country's political boundaries?) By the way, I noticed in one of your binders that you did practice the oceans of the world...way to get an extra day for the test. Math 7's: pg. 113 #7,8,10,13,14,15 Gr. 6's: see your teacher's site Book talks ready to go tomorrow and next week No reflections this week...but finish the assessment for the comment you chose. POST: If you could ask Lynda Mullaly Hunt, the author of One For The Murphys any question, what would you ask? Goals:
Today we started our discussion about goal setting. Goal setting is a real powerful part of ones learning journey. POST:Leave a comment about two goals in the subjects of reading, writing, science or math that you plan to focus on this term. Be specific with your goals. Be sure they are focusing on areas for growth in your learning. We will be sharing these goals with our parents on Thursday and Friday. Math: Wilson: 2 board questions Farrell: worksheet Socials: quiz on Friday on provinces, territories and capital cities of Canada, oceans and continents. Homework: Use your atlas or find a map of the world and review the oceans and continents. Reading: Send me your best response to one of your questions on Kidblog or Edmodo. (copy and paste to a google doc and share with me) Respond to your Edmodo and Kidblog global friends. Book Talks continue this week but we will not do a reflection this week for our independent novels. Writing: The post is on kidblog for this week's prompt. Because of our short week, the 100 word challenge is not mandatory but I invite you to participate. You need to edit and publish your paragraph by Thursday morning. Reminders: Remind parents about your student-led interim this Thursday 13th and Friday 14th between 4-5pm. Skating notices are not necessary as they were handed out by mistake by the TOC very early. I will resend them after Christmas. For those parents who wish to join us and need this much notice to make arrangements, please send the form in and I will keep them until we go in January. Tomorrow is band Fundraising Thank you division 2 for a great week!! I'm looking forward to seeing you again very soon.

Here are their paragraphs. Be sure to leave a special comment for them today. Here I am. Laying on the ground. Staring up at the sky with my Green eyes. It took Ashton awhile but heLifted me off the floor just before the Cat got me. I can’t smile forever. Ashton forgot me on the floor three months ago before Swimming lessons. He looked at me when he walked by. His cat got to me once. Bit and tore at my “limbs”. It hurt, but I can’t move. I feel but I cannot talk. Ashton’s mom Annie took my out of his hands. Into the garbage I go. I am a Broken toy. Tyler I ran as fast as I could. This is just a part of my daily routine. My dilapidated house comes into view It’s painted green but it’s fading away. I turn the corner then lifted myself through the brokenwindow like a cat. My mom groans – a greeting. Her room is very cramped since she is disease-ridden. I give her the pills I stole, then leap out. She mutters something and I go swimming in garbage. I pull myself out remembering what she said. “I love you, son.” , grinning I run around the corner, running into the deep darkness. Leo “Oh no!” said Jenny “I broke the button on my favourite green dress, now what am I going to do?”. Jenny was a 11 year old girl who had a little brother named Jack. Jenny looked out the broken window and saw Jack as he slowly picked up a penny (the cat) and threw her in the pool. Jenny ran down the stairs and into the backyard,”WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” Jenny screamed “I was teaching penny how to swim” whispered jack “you can’t teach a cat how to swim, swimming is not for cat! WAIT WHERE IS PENNY?!” Beyonce Here is a reminder about reading: Students who responded the other day on the site, you need to respond to your global read aloud classmates on kidblog, not this site. How does Carley handle the situation when Michael Eric has to go to the hospital? And what do you think this shows about Carley’s character? You also have this week to talk to our Edmodo global friends. The question in your colour group is: How does Carley realize that the Murphy's aren't perfect? What different things do they do that show her they aren't as perfect as she thought they were? Do you think it is healthy to try and be perfect? Why or why not?
