Have a look at our fish designs...beeeeautiful! Homework:
Self-edit persuasive write on defending a position for tomorrow. French 'entrevue' script due Thursday (begins April 16th) Reading: we filled in our graphic organizer, added to our notes after sharing ideas. Tomorrow we will begin our response Socials question: Today we were discussing the causes of Poverty. We were talking about how Greece is struggling to pay back their debt and instead of using financial resources to meet the needs of their citizens, money is spent on repaying their debt. Unemployment and overpopulation are also huge problems. We have talked about the difference between needs and wants, the living wage of $1.25 and how women in particular are living in poverty in Afghanistan. POST: Are income gaps (inequality of income) culture specific? Brain break...skipping!

I think that inequality of income can and can't be based culturally. I think it can be culturally based with the women in Afghanistan not getting the money from their husbands death. Instead the money goes to the father but that is the way they choose it. It can't be culturally specific because just like where we are today many women lose their husbands in war. They usually get their photos and medals about how brave they are. And with that once you've been in the army for a long time they will start paying for things you need if you can't afford it. So with that the women could collect some portion of the money. But I think that it would be good to give the women money because they could be going through DABDA with their greif. (Denial Anger Bargaining Depression Acceptance) It could be hard for them to go outside of the house and get groceries with the grief that they are going through. I think most likely in my opinion I would give the money to the women. Quote of the day: "Spending time complaining about yesterday won't make tomorrow better." ~Anonymous. You guys your art looks soooooo good! Can't wait to see the fish after we've painted them and wire them to the fence! They will look amazing! *Fantabulous* That Kid will get it. Lol

I think that culture may have a role in this income gap. For instance, the income gap between Africa and North America is very large. In developing areas and developed areas, the gap is pretty substantial too, I would say that maybe some cultures would even force law and rules that lower the income a person can bring home. Even though this effects the gap, other factors still contribute in this game of money. This gap can also be seen in areas like Vancouver, comparing the life in maybe Downtown Eastside, and the West end. This type of gap in Vancouver probably aren't that large. So in the end, the cultural difference plays a role, but other players effect the income gap that lives among us.

I think culture can have a part\effect on the income gap in the following ways. In some country's for example women don't have equal rights as men do to have an education. This impacts a women to make a living. People on the down town east side wouldn't make as much money as someone who had straight A's and went to the best university.

It definitely has things to do with culture because in some places in the world some people don't have the same right say as a Canadian so I think income gaps have a lot to do with culture as well as where you live.

I think culture can effect the income gap. Some places can have gaps, for example here in surrey and in down town. Down town is a crowded place, lots of people don't have money(can't afford the basic needs) and surrey most people have money and we don't see lots of people living on the streets. The developing environments might have a big gaps then the other.

I think culture has a bit to do with income and that because it is more likely for someone in north america for example to have higher income then someone in Africa or Afghanistan. But that's also not to say someone in Africa can't have high income it's just not very likely.

I think income gaps could be culture specific, because some places have a higher income compared to other places. There culture might be to have a specific job where you don't get a good income or you do.

I defently think culture can effect the income gap. In countries some countries people have to make their houses out of debree due to many problems. Here in Canada a great number of us are fortunate to be living in a well built home.

Culture does have a role with income for example the article we read in Afghanistan says that women can become poor if they are widowed from their husbands being kille as a soldier, and in their Muslim religion women don't have equal rights as men do.

Yes, think that income gaps could be culture specific. For example here in Canada and Afghanistan. In the early days in Afghanistan, wives were frobidden to work. Unlikely here in Canda husbands and wives are both allowed to work so they can get their basic needs, even if they have children. Like said, if the husband/soldier dies in war. Money goes to the husbands father not wife. But here in Canada the money that the husband (died) earned can be used by the wife and the family. So you could definetly see the difference of income gaps by culture.

I think that income gaps sometimes are culture specific depending where you live. I f you live in canada women can work and do whatever men can do but in other countries such as syria women are not given the same rights as men.
