POST: We have read a powerful part in our novel 'Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie' where Steven finds himself crying more than once. What do you think about the stereotypes and expectations that are sometimes put on both males and females? ie. boys need to be tough, they shouldn't show their emotions; girls should be 'girly', and its okay to be emotional. Where do you think these stereotypes have come from? How long have they been around? Do you think they are changing, can they be changed? Should they be changed? Some deep thinking on this topic tonight. We have also continued to learn about poverty and are taking notes on the types, causes and effects of poverty. We will continue this with our magazine resources tomorrow. You need to have specific examples and explanations recorded as you will only have your notes to study from when preparing for your unit test. Reminders/Homework:
French tomorrow Comment on Fresh grade if you haven't assessed your math unit test performance. Book orders - Friday ** Starting tomorrow, those students who still have overdue reading posters or perspective art, will stay in at lunch and either before/after school each day until done. Tomorrow I will be at school at 8 since there is bball after school.

These "expectations" i think mainly come from school and all types of school from elementary all the way to university and college because if you are not those thing like manly of your a boy or girly if your girl you have a higher chance of being bullied

I think this expectations comes from movies and books because there is always the "Girly girls, "the Jocks", "nerds", there are always these groups and you just have to stick with that certain group (unless they change), I don't know if these groups should be included, but that's what my thoughts are.

First of all, Ms.Wilson, you made a typo! Its February 1st, not 2nd! Second of all, I agree with Luna about the Donald Trump thing, and SpiritTiger about the different groups thing. I think people think that boys and men have to be tough, and girls and women have to be soft and emotional. I think that maybe someone a long time ago made this little rule up. If you're a boy, has someone ever told you to "man up", if you're felling emotional? That doesn't mean anything, and truthfully, none of this means anything. I think that if someone can be brave enough, and fight back, just like Malala did for girls to go to school, then maybe we can make a change, and stop this. Anyways, see you all tomorrow!

These stereotypes come from cultures, and their beliefs, and how some kiss are raised.

1.I think the stereotypes is from the ancient times. Because the ancient people all has job ,the men's job was hunt, but the women's job was pick the food. So the men must be very strong and cruel, but the women's job was easier so they did not need to be unemotional.(although there are many girls very bloody.).

I know that I personally don't live up to the "girl expectations" and I don't think these rules shouldn't exist and people should be who they want to be. I DO NOT LIKE THAT BOYS THINK I SHOULD BE A GIRLY GIRL AND PRISSY PRINCESS. (Not all boys or girls do but some are.)

I don't think that stereotypes are fair and I don't like how only girls can do certain things as well as boys. I'm not sure where the whole idea of 'girly' girls and 'tough' boys came from but it should stop. Nowadays, I think girls are starting to be more tough and show that we can be strong, tough, and sporty. Also, boys have emotions too, so if they're sad, they can be sad. Boys can have emotions and so can girls. Girls can be tough and so can boys. So, stereotyping needs to stop, because their not true.

I as well think that stereotypes are fair because only some people are aloud to do something but really everyone should be equal and fair.
