What a great day! It started with an excellent speaker for the Think We team to inspire students to help with a reading initiative. See photos below. Then we had an interesting and educational trip to the Surrey Arts Centre which included a tour to view various artists work and clay workshop. POST a description of your mask, what you like most and least about it and your overall thoughts about the gallery exhibit. I have included the link below of artist Graeme Patterson's work, "Secret Citadel". Homework:
Bring a shoe box size container to take your mask home. Math: same as yesterday, see teachers - due Monday Science-all points notes should be in complete sentences and paragraphs for tomorrow so you can spend tomorrow and Friday's class working on your poster, brochure or imovie. French- tomorrow Writing-be sure to post your 100 word write on your blog.

I think the gallery was super cool! I enjoyed the whole story behind it even though it was depressing. What I liked most about my mask was the unicorn horn. Without it, it would just look like a horse. What I liked least are the nostrils. They didn't seem right.

I liked the gallery a lot and everything had lots of deep, meaningful messages but the secret citadel make me sad. My mask WAS supposed to be a alien but turned out like Caesar from Planet of the Apes and that's what I didn't like about it.

My mask is a Sugar Skull! They originate from Day Of The Dead in Mexico and are very unique! When I paint it I want to make some very unique and colorful designs that will portray the original masks! I really like the eye and nose sockets but I think that I could have spent more time on the face rather than shaping the skull itself. I wish that I had more time to sculpt and really make the skull longer and the face part more defined rather than rushing. I really enjoyed Secret Citadel! At first I thought that it was very weird and creepy, sort of disturbing. But looking at it with an artists eye or just an open heart you really can understand the story. I really enjoyed everything that this artist portrayed from friendships to tragedy. I really thought that having the friends played as animals was really neat! Have a great night everyone!

I also a did a unicorn. I used a picture of the horse for the face, and simply added a horn. Because one of the main feautures about a unicorn is obviously the horn. Just like Zoella said. Without the horn it would look like a horse. The art gallery was kinda depressing. We watched the clip inside the theatre, and it gave me a sad feeling. Thats exactly how I feel when I loose my best friend. Heatbroken. I can't believe how much time it took to do all those houses, gymnasiam, school bus, etc. It was absolutely amazing. Such skill acomplished in this story. The playing piano kinda scared me. Playing by itself. The thing I really didn't like the most about my mask was the shape. It seems skinny, and should never have cut that much off. Because I regreted what I did, after I chopped that clay off his face. See you guys tommorow!

I thought the gallery was pretty cool and unique. I loved the interesting story behind it. My mask was a owl /unicorn. As willow called it the "horned owl"! I liked the little stubby horn. I didn't really like the feathers because I had to rush through it. And it was a little messy.

I liked making the mask but it was hard because pieces kept falling off.

I like how it looks and how it turned out to look like batman. I didn't like how I couldn't really get any texture besides smooth.

My mask is monster. I drew sketch of that at grade 2 or 3 and it was cool. So I make that mask.

My mask was the failed eagle in the bottom right corner of screen. :( I really liked the exhibit because the gallery of nature was really interesting and powerful.

I made a plage doctors mask, and I like how I made the shape of the head but the beak didn't turn out to well.

My mask is supposed to be a bunny but it ended up looking like a mouse, so its a mouse. What I least like about my mask is that I didn't get to finish one eye, and what I most like about my mask is that it has big ears.
