What fun to hear our shared buddy stories! Homework/Practice:
POST: To add another layer on top of our reading skills, we will practice blogging on the class site from time to time. This will involve presenting your opinions in writing as we did orally in our reading groups. This gives you a chance to learn from each other. Let's practice by posting thoughts about the true 'Winnie the Pooh' story that Mrs. Chapman read to us on Friday. Give your opinion of what you thought about this story and the author's message. What do you think the author's purpose was? What do you think a key event was in this story and why? What did you learn? What emotions did you feel? Be sure to include evidence from the text to support your ideas. I think the author wanted to teach kids about the story of Winnie and show how it ties into the Winnie the Pooh stories.

true, true it does link to the first winnie the pooh book/show but how it links the most is christapher robin having a stuffed bear and naming it winnie the pooh.

I thought the book was very cool how all of the stories came together to make one story. From reading the book I think the authors purpose was to engage the reader by including different parts from each story, and to show how the popular bear 'Winnie the Pooh' came to be. At one point it was sad when Winnie's original owner had to leave him at the zoo, but it was a good thing because Christopher Robin met Winnie. Overall, Ii thought it was a pretty cool book/story.

Sorry, Christopher Robin had a teddy bear, but didn't know what to name him. His father took him to the zoo, and Christopher Robin met a bear named Winnie, so he decided to name his stuffy bear Winnie the Pooh.

I think the author's point was that she wanted to tell the real story so that people know it was based on a true story. I felt happy that Winnie found a friend at the zoo, Christopher Robin.

My evidence is that the lady who wrote the book is the descendant of Harry and the reason why I think that is because she showed us the family tree and she told us that Cole (the author's son) was the Great, Great Grandson of Harry and since Harry is the one who took good care of Winnie, he probably told his family and they told their kids who told their kids who told their kids.

The purpose was how the Winnie be famous. I think the key event is Winnie find his family at last. I was very happy, because Winnie be famous and Harry and Robin had a good friend,Winnie at last.

i think the author's purpose was to tell the reader of where winnie the pooh was originated from and to give more information about it. i know because the title is the true story of winnie the pooh and also it talks about him being real and where he was, got his name from, etc. also, i was sorta shocked that all of those stories linked together and that winnie the pooh and christopher robin were actually real.

I believe this because if he hadn't done so, this story would've never happened and "Winnie the Pooh" would have never existed. I learned the where the true Winnie the Pooh took place and that he was a real bear. As well as that Winnie was kept in a zoo and that Winnie is also a girl. I knew who Winnie was but in the cartoons, the creators made Winnie the Pooh a male.

I think the authors message was kindness costs you nothing but you gain everything. ( because the doctor/soldier saved the bear and made her go to the zoo to keep her away from the danger of the war :)

I think the idea of the Winnie the Pooh story is to give people an idea of how Winnie started becoming a well known bear. And that things can get better because both Winnie's very first owner was sad to leave Winnie, but he got money from that, and then Winnie's second owner was really sad to leave him but he ended up meeting Christopher.

I believe it was a very happy but sad story and the another's message was to be willing to save a person or thing no matter the cost I think the key event was how cole wanted to save the Bears life so it could be safe evidance from the text is we're christopher sea to him self I know what I'm calling my bear Winnie the Pooh and I just thought that was good.

i believe the story was very happy but it was sad at moments in the book. i think the authors message was to save a person or thing or animal no matter the cost. Some key events are when Harry actually saved the bears life and evidence from the text is were he thought to himself i shouldn't i can't but his heart made up his mind ill give you 20$ for the bear. another key event is were Harry just wanted Winnipeg to be safe so he thought about it and he went to the Zoo some evidence from the text is were Harry said to Winnie this is going to be your knew home and that were shipping out to France and i want you to be safe. The thing i learned was that their use to be veterinarians in the army to heal the horses that are hurt.

The Winnie the pooh story was great it was exiting because I didn't why a bear was in a military base but at the end it was a true story I was surprised. I think the authors message was the owner loved him but he had to let him go. because he was at the zoo and then that kid had a teddy bear just like him.

The book was well written. I think the author's purpose was to tell the story behind Winnie the Pooh and how it was created. I think the key event is when Harry bought Winnie from the trapper. If he didn't do this, the whole Winnie story wouldn't exist. Something I learned from this story was that it was Christopher Robin's father who wrote the stories, not him. I always thought it was Christopher Robins. The emotions that I felt were good and made me feel calm. One thing I liked about the book was how kind and thoughtful Harry was.

I agree with haramb3 on a key event is when Harry buying Winnie from the trapper. Another key event is when Harry brings Winnie to the zoo. I f he didn't do that than Christopher Robin would have never met Winnie and the Winnie the pooh stories would have never been created.

righteous, that is a very good way to look at it,I felt that way too(the emotions)and i too believe the key event of the story was when harry bought winnie in the first place,if he didn't,winnie the pooh wouldn't have existed, the world could have been different now,so it was very crucial.

I like how the author put a non fictional story in a children's picture book. Also putting two more stories about Winnie and Christopher Robin and how is dad makes the Winnie the pooh stories. As well as the mother telling those two stories to her son. This is all showed in the whole story. I feel sad about Winnie losing her mother but happy when Winnie is with Christopher Robin and playing with him

I thought the story was really because it was split into different story's. The Author I think wanted to tell how Winnie became the famous bear in the word and give background knowledge. I think my key event is when Harry drops Winnie at the London Zoo ,because he would of never met Christopher Robin who is Winnie's friend. I learned about Winnie the pooh and that he went into war and then in a Zoo. I felt sad when Harry gave Winnie to the Zoo, it was the right thing to do but I still felt sad. When Winnie met Christopher I was very happy because of how well they got along and how happy they were together.

I thought the book was very cool because of how all the stories came together to make one story, and how the author of the book was Cole's mom, Lindsay. In the book, it says "you have to let one story end so the next one can begin". I think that was one of her messages in the story, because with all of the stories revolving around the same bear, some stories had to end, in order for more stories to begin. From reading the book I think the authors purpose was to engage the reader by including different parts from each story, and to show how the popular bear 'Winnie the Pooh' came to be. A key event in the book was when Harry took Winnie to the London Zoo, because that's when they had to say goodbye to each other. At one point it was sad when Winnie's original owner had to leave him at the zoo, but it was a good thing because Christopher Robin met Winnie. Overall, I thought it was a pretty cool book/story.

I think the key idea was that we are learning about the true story of Winnie the pooh and how it relates to Christopher robin's Winnie the pooh. I think the author's purpose of writing the book was to get the true story out. I learned that the person who wrote the book is descended from Harry Colesburn ( the person who adopted Winnie ) it surprised me when I found that out and the rest of the story was really engaging.

I think the key event is Winnie find his family at last and the little boy knows his family thee , because this story has many stories , but the writer made them together .the stories are together by the boy's family .and who not wants a happy end?so i though the key events are these . I was very happy, because Winnie be famous and Harry and Robin had a good friend,Winnie at last.i learn many things in this story like love are not just at people they are at everywhere.

My thoughts about the story are, that I like how the author wrote a true story, so that we know how Winnie the Pooh started. I think that the author's message was, "It doesn't mean what you look like, or what type of person you are. It doesn't matter what you look like on the outside, it matters what type of person you are on the inside". I think this because Harry, a human, bought/adopted Winnie, a bear, because he has kindness inside of his heart, because he knew that Winnie was in danger, when he saw her with the hunter. He also wanted best for her, and that's why he took her to the zoo, and she stayed there. I think that the author's purpose to write the story was, so that readers know how Winnie the Pooh became a huge thing. The main key event was when Harry bought Winnie, because if he hadn't, there would be no story. (Continue on another comment.)
