Today for Gr. 6 math we completed definitions of various graphs. Review this link if you need to add information. For homework you are to complete your tally sheet, pictograph and double bar graph - due Thursday but because of Grouse Grind you can hand them in on Friday. You will be given the class tomorrow to work on this. Here is an example of the tally sheet but remember to include boys and girls on yours. Remember the pictograph should have one common symbol, a legend (key) explaining the number of students represented and what the symbol represents, title, labels for the axes and also be neat. Here is a review of how to create a double bar graph along with a review of a pie graph. (Only watch to 5 minutes) To the left is a good example of a double bar graph. Steps in making a bar graph: Decide on a title for your graph (eg. Pet Popularity). 1. Draw the vertical and horizontal axes. 2. Label the horizontal (X) axis (eg. Type of Pet). 3. Write the names of pets where the bars will be (eg. Parakeet, Dog, and so on). 4. Begin the bar right beside the Y axis if vertical bar. 5. Label the vertical axis (eg. Number of Students). 6. Decide on the scale. You should consider the least and the greatest number shown on the graph. Decide on the range of numbers (Begin at 0 and always go to a bit higher than your highest answer). 7. Draw a bar to show the total for each item. Be neat and use ruler! We absolutely need the Grouse Grind permission forms tomorrow. We are short parent drivers and need to scramble to see if we can find enough rides. Today in Science we discussed and took notes describing the 5 key extreme environments and how they pose challenges to humans for survival. Choose one of these 5 environments and post 3 questions: something that you don't know the answer to and will enjoy digging deeper. Also POST: What environment would you explore if you could choose any exploration? Why would you choose this extreme environment? What would your immediate concerns be for survival? What would you need to take with you? Important Dates:

3 questions of Polar Region: What type of diseases/illness has occured in the 2 polar regions? Is the polar regions the most dangerous and extreme environment? What made Artic and Antartica (main polar regions) cold and a basically, as a polar region? Just as Tyler Oakley was saying, I would like to explore the ocean. I want to know what the experts use when going to the dephts of the see, and how the creatures of the ocean adapt to this environment. Is there any creatures that Im not sure of that are murming in the ocean? Who will be my assistant or my partner? Which parts of ocean should I choose that are on earth? Will this be successful? I would definetely bring some friends of mine, above ocean and under with me. Just in case because of course I cant do this by myself! Also lots of equipment. Honestly I have no idea what equipment. See you guys tomorrow! Another day of learning!

I would like to explore the Arctic. I would choose to go here because I love the types of animals that live there especially the arctic fox as well as penguins for it would give me a chance to study their behavior and learn how to survive. My immediate concerns would be hard to build a shelter as well as what I would have to eat and drink.I would take a snowmobile for transportation a snowboard for once my snowmobile is out of gas rope and a husky to pull me on the snowboard. I would also take a tent Arctic winter clothing a tent -80° sleeping bag an ice pick and hunting knives to kill animals but only the ones that try to eat me and finally I would take a fishingrod to catch fish beneath the ice surface.
