Your homework is to read your speech to your parents and get feedback from them. Note** the dates for speech presentations in class are next Tuesday and Wednesday. Remember to find magazine advertisements for Jr. Achievement on Friday. See the gallery of photos from yesterday's workshop. Tips for Memorizing Speeches 1. Read over and over 2. I'm finished my speech, edited it, printed it out from google doc. I'm finished my intro but I'm still working on memorizing my first and second idea. I expect full memorization to take the rest of this week and the weekend. Maybe even up into next week. My tips are for when I was in grade 4 I had my speech on cue cards. I did have my whole speech on cue cards but the thing is I highlighted the parts where I knew I had trouble with memorizing. I only took my first cue card up to bed the first night and read it. Within 5 minutes of reading the paragraph and looking away to read it back I had it! The trick for me is to read a fraction of your paragraph is big and when you finish look at the ceiling or something blank. Try to picture your paper or cue card and just remind yourself of the words. It will be hard but the key is to be diligent about it and keep trying! I know that alot of us will have trouble with memorizing and even me but you just have to use the trick! 1. Read a little bit of what you are memorizing. 2. Look away at something blank or something that wont distract you and recite speech. With the cue cards and highlighting even just write small. Highlight the key things that you think you will have trouble with or are more important and you're set! Hope everyone has a good night! GAHH SHOTS TOMORROW! Quote of the day: "I was scared of dentists and the dark, I was scared of pretty girls and starting conversations."~Vance Joy (From his song Riptide.)

I'm finished my speech and I'm on to memorizing. So far its going great. I actually finished my last few changes, because while I was reading today with my partner I noticed a few errors and sentences that didn't make sense. So I just fixed that. I don't know why but in memorizing I'm good. I'm SO NOT short term memory, I cant even remember what I had for breakfast yesterday. But when it comes to memorizing its pretty easy. A few tips... Say one sentence than another and another that are in your paragraph, then start saying them again and again so about 3 times. It depends on your memorization. Then when you finally think you got it go for it. BUT you can also record your paragraph or what your memorizing to see the mistakes you made. Or ask a friend for help. Usually memorization would take about a full weeks practise or maybe 2-5 days for me. I just came back from the Track meet came 2 seconds and 1 third. SO PROUD OF YOU GYMNA5T!!!!!!! You did such a good job. I love you so much. You even beat me!! Good job to all the other racers you did a good job. My legs are very sore and tired. See you all tomorrow! Another day of learning!

But I just have a fear of them! I'm not a baby I have always just been terrified of needles. People think of it as a prick into their skin but I think of it as sharp metal peircing my flesh. Ha ha. I'm sure it will be fine I just really don't like them. It's actually proven that people who are scared of getting shots like me can cough slightly or squeeze a stress ball with the other arm and it will ease the pain. Its not painful it's just a weird feeling. Okay Ms.W I will try not to worry Lol.

I'm done writing my speech but as I read my speech I always want to edit it. It's easy for me to memorize because I really know and connect to my speech. Tips: Really know your speech and if you don't it's not a good speech topic for you. Don't think of it as a whole paragraph, split it into parts. I like to stick stickies where the places I usely go, with words that could help me memorize.

I don't know what your test will include. This will be your final test on percents so it is whatever your math teacher has been working on with you. What did she say to study? Review what you have been practising over the past few weeks.

My math teacher didn't say what to study because she wasn't here today. She just said there was a math test, I just knew yesterday in the afternoon. Thankyou! I learned that track is about trying new things. Today we got to choose our races, there was a 200m race and I didn't want to try it but I just gave it a go. 2BARUNNER said that I can do it and after that it gave me confidence.

My speech is coming along.... sorta. It's hard to revise, but I've done it at least 20 times. I think I won't have a lot of trouble in memorizing it, but I'm just worried about the quality of the speech.

The only problem with my speech I memorizing it because I have so many other things on my mind and it's hard to stop thinking about them until the event has past.

Yes, I agree with you Black Bear. To me, it feels like school is another life. Other than my family. Like, yesterday I had track and came home at 5:00 and then me and my family went to an old friends of ours and came home at 8:00 and here I am waking up really early yet slept late to finish my socials, speech, and getting prepared for a math test. I just want Friday to be today so the weekend I don't have to worry because Im not going anywhere.
