Wow what a difference today in your independence work. I guess you just needed to be reminded with our Ichart. Well done Division 2!! POST: What are your thoughts about what you heard in the video below? (You do not need to watch it all...there are many stories to choose from) Today we shared some poetic techniques used in Remembrance Day poetry and brainstormed words associated with this special day. Tomorrow we will decide on our criteria and write our poem. This is a poem that I liked. There are many powerful videos and stories available to learn more about why it is important to remember those who fought for freedom. Here is one that you can watch part or all of. We could not use the gym this week due to pre-water polo lessons (ours is on Monday for one hour). But we took a break outside and below are photos of some fun we had playing our own choice of games. We are lucky that one teacher has given up her gym time tomorrow, so we have PE. Be sure to bring your gym strip. Science - You will have one more class to work on your science assignment tomorrow, then it is due on Friday. Please check your criteria to meet all expectations.
Your personal goal description is due tomorrow with a specific plan for achieving success. The target date is at then end of November. You will also need to document your progress.

The story was very powerful and said about how they knew the thought of death was there but they tried not to think about it. They said that the lives that were taken never went away and most nights they couldn't sleep this really gives you a partial idea of what they go through. Also the part about thousands of soldiers dying and the veteran said his hands were stuck because he carried so many bodies.

That video was amazing, it was very heart warming and I thought the message was really cool. It's saying we should never forget those who fight for us. All they want is to not be forgotten about.

I just can't imagine what they're going through, waking up everyday and having pictures in their mind of the World War seeing guys who are dead all over the place and having to stand there defending themselves while the others are getting shot.

Math question is: 9/13+5/26=? It was so sad when the girl was waiting for her father, and then that night she was suppose to meet him the father had passed away. Then she gave a hug to someone saying this was for my father. I think it was very hard for them to talk about the soldiers who had passed away. "For your sacrifice, for our freedom. Thankyou." See you guys tomorrow!!

That video gave me chills. Not knowing where you were going next because the people on your ships wouldn't tell you would just be a nightmare. I watched the Juno Beach D-Day one and man was that just..... I'm honestly speechless. Those soldiers were told not to stop walking even if you were wounded or someone was left you had to because if you stopped you would be killed by the Germans. And just the one story of a beside another soldier and he had his finger on the trigger, the next moment he had a bullet in his head. Knowing that some of these soldiers have PTSS (Post traumatic Stress Syndrome) is crazy. At the beginning they talked about how if they and the war was forgotten then it's over, someone will take advantage of it. Really breathtaking. Even the man who told the class about the story of a little girl. And it goes like this:

I thought it's sad how the soldiers had accepted the fact they could die. We're very fortunate to live the way we do and not have the need to accept something like our own death.

Its so sad to know that kids aged 14 join and people at age 50 join. But you know who wouldn't want to feel adventureous when they got home. Can you believe that 10% of canadians, our population were in the armed forces. Its just sad to think that so many people and even young kids volunteered to defend our country and fight for us. "The sooner we get over it the sonner we go home."

I learned people were so patriotic for their countries that they had only one mutual interest which was freedom.

Wars always give a the pain and destruction. Weapons should use for peace, not for war. World War 2 give us only pain and sad. We should respect and remember the soldiers fight at World War 2

That video was very powerful, i thought it was a moving video because they had people who actually exasperianced world war 2 and the pictures from before the war when they were 18 and they weren't really aware or really cared about death and just ready to fight for freedom, and they care so much about it 10% of 11 million people ( 1 million people ) volunteered to go to war to fight for our freedom, so I think that that was such a amazing video to watch.

I feel bad for the veterans, it must be really hard for them. losing a friend is already catastrophic enough but seeing your friends shot right beside you would just be horrible i can't imagine the pain they go through.
