You received your Book Commercial criteria today. You may choose one of the novels you have read since September for this activity. Tomorrow you will sign up for your presentation date which starts next week. We started our unit on Biodiversity today. Review the video we watched in class today and POST what you learned and your thoughts about the effect of adding or removing an organism from an ecosystem. We defined Ecosystem, sustainable and biodiversity. We also read some staggering quotes. Start sharing additional astonishing facts that you can find on any living organisms.
Tomorrow you will get another class to work on your art.

The math question is: What's the common denominator for these fractions? 6/5 and 8/3 I actually learned what biodiversity means, variety of living things on earth. We can be an affect by hunting, overfishing and polluting. I learned recycling helps because then were not wasting much and it keeps the environment healthy and clean. I never knew that wolves changed the rivers. I thought the process was so cool, how the wolves killed the deer's which changed the deer's behavior which protected them and then more and more animals came along. Facts: 99% of currently threatened species are at risk from human activities, primarily those driving habitat loss, introduction of exotic species, and global warming. Freshwater ecosystems are home to more than 100,000 known species of plants and animals, and are now one of the most endangered habitats in the world as a result of human development, pollution, and climate change.

The common denominator is 15.

I'm some exited to finally start our science unit and have already learned something. To day for example after watching the video I learned just how connected the life in an ecosystem was. At Yellowstone their was a deer problem so they placed a pack of wolves into the park. After that the wolves ate the deer causing the deer to avoid certain parts of the park. In those places because no deer grazed there it caused trees and plants grow which brought bear to eat the berries. Then because of the trees birds created nests there, and the trees brought in beavers who created damns. Mice found places to make dens which brought in more birds, foxes and even more animals. All this effected the rivers! The beavers damns and all the new trees growing in made the soil stronger because of the tree roots. All that and more is what makes ecosystems so remarkably diverse.

Wow! I guess we both have good memories (or you just watched the video again) but I KNEW that you would say that whole overview lol. Well you beat me to it and yours was more descriptive but Bravo.

I just thought that it was amazing how adding one pac of wolves can create more vegetation. Like what happened in the video because of the deer all of the grass and vegetation were gone! Just dirt was the remains. But by adding in the wolves to Yellowstone park the wolves ate some of the deer and scared them enough to the point where they stay in one area or know not where to go *eg. tight spaces where the can get trapped such as ditches or other*. With the deer not grazing everywhere the vegetation grew back! Trees grew and with that berries too! Bears and many other species grew in too! But the best part was where the roots or trees and vegetation changed the river! It made the river have less erosion more often and made it wider and flow a certain way. Wow really just breath taking. And not only that but the park looked BEAUTIFUL too! Facts: #1: Multicellular organisms such as you and other animals originated because of cell division. It forms the tissues which is a collection of tiny cells. #2:The cells of every living organism contain deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA), a nucleic acid that holds the genetic instructions for the development and functioning of a life form. It is this substance that allows a living thing to grow and reproduce. Last One! #3: A virus straddles the definition of life and, according to scientific definition, is not technically alive. It is composed simply of DNA and ribonucleic acid (RNA) strands surrounded by a protein shell and requires a host cell to metabolize and reproduce. When not within a host cell, a virus lies dormant and is nothing more than a static organic particle. So many facts! I won't post a quote today just because I'm bombarted with mind blowing facts! Have a great night everyone! See you all tomorrow...buddies :)

I learned what biodiversity means, causes such as overfishing, polluting, deforestation etc. I never knew that there are over 1 million species of insects. I thought that it was just ants. Haha just kidding. I think the effect of adding another organism in an ecosystem is all right. Like how species started existing in the video. It makes earth, earth. Without these organisms there would be no cycle.

When we talked about how a long time ago, our school land was full of trees. Or the diamond field. I think they should've left a few more trees (or a lot) so we could play hide and seek. Like the woods. That would be really fun.

Yes, but keep in mind that the supervisors probably wouldn't have let us go into the trees because we could get lost, stolen, or hurt and stuck. I get what you're trying to say though! :) It would have been very fun in or out of school!

I thought it was cool how one pack of wolves can kill off a few deer and regain life of a whole valley so the deer don't eat all the grass and plants and then the deer hide in the forest where they don't get hunted.

i first want to say how amazing it is the only a pack of wolfs can do such powerful stuff like that, like they change rivers isn't that pretty cool ??!! and i think that removing an animal or an orginisum will efect alot of animas as well because all the animals depend on the others for food.

i learned when wolves hunt deer, more berries because there are no deer to eat them which means that more bears, birds, mice and rats will come and when rats and mice come the more foxes will come too etc. it is a food chain between animals and plants, coming and going.

I think its kind of cool and scary that if you take out one living organism from the Ecosystem it could all come crashing down.

What do I think about if you added or took away a animal and what did I learn...... Well I learned that everything you do affects others meaning if..... Bob bought the last chocolate bar at the store then Phil ( I know it's an amazing name) went to go buy the the chocolate bar that BOB already bought then Phil doesn't have one which affects him. Anyways Phil is all health because he didn't eat the chocolate bar but then there's bob who is well not so healthy. Anyway I think that if you got ride of a animal or added one then everything would be messed up because the animals and us could possibly be affected negatively (including us). Sometimes I wonder why are there spiders, mice, etc but then I think if there were no mice then the Eagles would have no food really and spiders..... Well I don't really know what they do but they are there for a reason. Everything is linked together for a reason so it flows smoothly like a river. It's also like if animals for some reason at fast food they would be fat deer wouldn't get eaten ya but bad for the other animals and they Cheetah's would die off and the

First off I would just like to say I am so excited for our science I love science and can't wait to learn more about it. But I thought the video was amazing, like who would have thought that a pack of wolves could do all that. Also wolves making the rivers better like what how, it was really cool and amazing to watch.

I think if you remove a predator or prey or an organism the whole food chain in that area changes like what all the animals hunt and how they are hunted this can even effect us because what we eat and what threatens our environment and our homes.

Ya, thats very true. It could effect our lives. And you know like they said we all have a purpose. If organism's in their ecosystem get taken away, jobs that help that organism or treat it, might not excist which will effect us.

It is weird how much of a difference a few wolves can make! I think that it shows how much of a difference there can be when you do even the tiniest of things to the environment whether it's good or bad ( even though you should be doing good things) and how careful you should be. BTW I know how you feel @2BARUNNER

I learn about a food web. For example,if we remove cows from ecosystem, organisms that prey on cows would not have enough food to survive, therefore, their they will decrease. On the other hand organisms like grass population will increase too.I think it's good to leave an ecosystem as it is because adding or removing certain organisms will naturally happen.

I learned that if you take a animal from its ecosystem then you are either will get a good affect or a bad one. The video amused me because if u put an organism in a place where it can survive then it might have a dramatic effect or a bad one.

From the video I thought that it was really cool how because the wolfs eat there prey it meant more life for other creatures such as mice and bunnies, witch meant that the Eagles abs Hawks could eat. I also thought that it was really cool how the wolfs effected the rivers. I cant quite describe what he was saying but the way he was saying made so much sense. :))))CANT WAIT TO SEE EVERYONES COSTUMES TOMORROW 😝HAPPY HALLOWEEN🤗
