First of all, thank you, thank you, thank you, to parents for driving us to the mountain today. We could not have gone if it weren't for you. We had a great day at the Grouse Grind. What 'grit' the grade 6/7s have!! You should feel so proud of yourselves today. You had a positive mindset and you did it. It was great to meet your parents last night and I look forward to meeting those who could not make it. Parents who did not receive a technology newsletter will need to fill one out this weekend. You are asked to set up a gmail account with your child. Please use a fictitious name for your child's email address. Gmail is very important for some of our web-based learning tools this year. Students will bring this form home today or Monday if they are not at school today. Also students please have your parents complete this survey by clicking on this link. POST: Tell one story about today (something funny that happened, something interesting you saw, something different you did, etc.) Here are the directions for those students who need to set up a new gmail account. Homework/Reminders:
Parent survey if not at Meet the teacher last night Technology newsletter filled in with gmail Entertainment books Any more grade 6 vaccination forms bring dividers for binder on Monday All supplies and novel

A story of mine..hmm.. While I was on the trail I was really tired and felt like I was dying(im exaggerating, I actually didnt:)) half way but then I had people cheering me on and I ended up running the half the way up. It felt really good when I reached the top because I had achevied something, I walked up the grouse grind!! Ohh and when I took a break a saw some people feeding doritoes to chicmucks which was a little weird but the chicmuck actually ate it. See you guys on Monday!!

My story is when I was on the trail, I had a teacher behind me. (From a different school) And I kept on saying I had given up life, Which I had when supplies where near diminished. 3 and a half quarters up the mountain, the teacher said, "Hey, I'm gonna go up by Mr. Enthusiastic up there." Good / bad times, ah, good / bad times. I also got a BUNCH of fries from Chris, Jonothan (Jono, as some of you know him) and Brandon. Thanks guys!

Even though I wasn't there I'll still part take on my story... So after my allergy specialist appointment, I had this random thought that I wanted to learn spanish... So I made a huge list of Spanish words, common sentences, and phrases. That's pretty much it. Anyway I hope you guys had fun on the grind I wish I could've gone!

A story of mine is that on the trail I didn't stop that many times so I felt really exhausted but I just kept moving and I was so hungry so I used the food to motivate me! I am really proud that I beat my time and I was about the sixth person up!

Great stories so far! Keep them coming! I am so proud of you Div 2. You had positive attitudes in this challenge (yes, even you 'like turtles'), and showed a great deal of perseverance. Wait...aren't those qualities of the leaders we were discussing the other day!?!

It was my first time doing the Grouse Grind so I didn't know what to expect. People were saying different things that made me unsure. I was ok at the beginning, but once I was done the first quarter, I was exhausted. Once I made it to the top I was SO relieved to be finished. I was really excited and I would definitely do it again. ;)

Oh, did I mention my legs gave in as soon as I heard my time? None of the adults recognized me, even though they knew me. Probably because of my hair. It was completely soaked.

It was my very first time doing the Grouse Grind and it was sooo tiring, it was the biggest hike I have ever done. During the hike my legs her on fire it felt lava got dumped on my legs. When I got to the top it was so reliving.

Well I started off with some friends at the beginning but along the way they wanted to go ahead so we split up. I made it to the top and to be honest I would have preferred to be doing school work or tests. I would have read the whole time. Hiking is not for me lets just say that. It was FREEZING COLD AND POURING RAIN! As I went up the mountain the rain water had created little rivers, streams, and puddles on the stairs. But in the end I was happy to be at the top and eating nice warm food. The car ride there was really fun with Beyonce, SoccerMonkey, Jayman, and 2 others but I don't know the nickname. We played truth or dare, blackjack, go fish, and 2 truths 1 lie. It was a really fun experience but I wouldn't want to do it again. I would rather it be a warm but not scorching day out. Hope everyone else enjoyed themselves!

This was my third time doing the grind and I was super happy with my time and place:) I slipped like 9 or 10 times and at one point at the very end the person behind me tried to pass me. It was super fun and I cant wait to do it again later this year!!! oh and when we came back to shadowbacon's car a high schools cars tire was completely flat and I don't think they were too happy about it.

Something new that I tried was not taking many/long breaks because if you take alot of long breaks it makes you tired and not want to continue up the hike.

Jayden and I went to derby reach tonight and we made our own homemade fishing rod out of a long stick and then we collected string off the shore, and found a hook and an apple slice and put it on. Then we went to Tim's and got lemonades.

It was hard, cold, and wet. I had fun though and loved seeing the nature and experiencing it.
