Be sure to complete the definitions so you can show your understanding on a google doc tomorrow. Below is a review of ecosystems. Tomorrow we will review how energy gets passes from organism to organism down the food chain. Here is a song to help you review the process and terms. Remind parents about returning driving forms for our 1st water polo field trip on Wednesday. We leave at 1pm and will swim from 1:30-2:30. We may return to Hillcrest a bit after the bell depending on traffic. Be sure to practice your dance moves.

What a great day! Our first dance rehearsal, a special Remembrance Day assembly, reading Wonder and more learning about the interdependence of abiotic and biotic things. Thank you to Beyonce and Gymna for their participation in the assembly. Remember to share your goals and plan with your parents. Be sure to state your goals on Fresh Grade and include a reflection on what you have done so far. Have a great short break...get energized and come on Monday ready to learn. Bring all work to school tomorrow and be prepared to practice your goals. We will be continuing with science. Tomorrow is our Remembrance Day assembly. It would be appropriate to dress in nice clothing. For example, what you would wear if you were going out to a special evening with family. We had great time with our buddies today. This is the Remembrance Day sunflower we made together and below is the contemporary dance show presented by our buddies and the other grade 3s. I can't wait until we learn our dance!! You have read a few Remembrance Day poems, chosen a favourite, listened to some shared in class and discussed the techniques used. Before completing your own poem, watch the video below. Then see if you can revise your poem to make it stronger. Today we created our goals for the rest of this term. We have chosen one personal and one academic goal to focus on. This starts now and will be an important part of your first term report. Wow what a difference today in your independence work. I guess you just needed to be reminded with our Ichart. Well done Division 2!! (You do not need to watch it all...there are many stories to choose from) Today we shared some poetic techniques used in Remembrance Day poetry and brainstormed words associated with this special day. Tomorrow we will decide on our criteria and write our poem. This is a poem that I liked. There are many powerful videos and stories available to learn more about why it is important to remember those who fought for freedom. Here is one that you can watch part or all of. We could not use the gym this week due to pre-water polo lessons (ours is on Monday for one hour). But we took a break outside and below are photos of some fun we had playing our own choice of games. We are lucky that one teacher has given up her gym time tomorrow, so we have PE. Be sure to bring your gym strip. Science - You will have one more class to work on your science assignment tomorrow, then it is due on Friday. Please check your criteria to meet all expectations.
Your personal goal description is due tomorrow with a specific plan for achieving success. The target date is at then end of November. You will also need to document your progress. Science Assignment: I can identify and explain the interdependence of abiotic and biotic factors within ecosystems. Be sure you understand the following terms: individual, population, community and ecosystem. Begin your assignment by choosing one specific ecosystem. Then pick a minimum of 4 species living in this ecosystem. Tomorrow you will be given more class time to work on this assignment. POST #1: Describe the ecosystem you have chosen for this assignment. Be specific. For example, do not just say 'ocean' ecosystem as there are diverse ecosystems in different oceans. There have been numerous examples this week of students in Div. 2 making poor decisions. I would like to remind you of the ROLES and the Rights and Responsibilities POST #2: What does leadership look like in the classroom? Example: Handing your work in on time. (No one in Tuesday's group handed in their Reflection book today.)
